FH1536™: For Test Takers

Maintain your HEART, healthy.
Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) is an inherited disorder that causes very high cholesterol levels due to some genetic anomalies and greatly increases the chance of having a heart attack early in life. Heart attacks usually occur in men when they are 40-55 years old and in women when they are 50-65 years old. Unfortunately, these attacks can sometimes occur when people are in their mid-twenties. The first case of FH was described over 100 years ago and the characteristic of FH passing from generation to generation was understood in the late 1930's.
Primary prevention directed at lifestyle changes, combined with preventive medical treatment, is the most important way to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in individuals with Familial Hypercholesterolemia. Hence knowledge about ones's clinical and molecular risk towards hypercholesterolemia may prevent the onset of the heart disease later in life. Whilst early detection of the disease may facilitate the early intervention and treatment. This is the basis of MSS FH1536™- A predisposition screening for hypercholesterolemia and a diagnosis test for Familial Hypercholesterolemia.
